Mum and baby photoshoot

Book a mum and baby photoshoot: You owe it to yourself and your children

Why not make it a priority to organise a mum and baby photoshoot?

After all, your children are your biggest fans. They adore you, exactly as you are. To them, you are the most perfect and beautiful mum in the world (even though you may not always feel like it!).

But, while you are at the very heart of the family, you have very few family photographs of you and the children together, right?

You’re there for your children in both the good times and the bad. You’re there during all those gloriously chaotic everyday moments that family life is made of. But you’re also the one behind the camera most of the time (hint hint, dads!).

Exist in photographs with the ones you love the most

My popular ‘Mummy and Me’ photo sessions are a lovely way to capture and celebrate the unique and special bond that you have with your children.

Exist in pictures with a mum and child photoshoot

Rather than being an indulgence, a mother and baby photoshoot (or mother and child photoshoot) is something that I believe you should do regularly. After all, you’ll gain so much pleasure from the photographs, it’ll be well worth the investment.

And, your child will be so grateful for the photos in the future. No doubt they’ll laugh looking back at their young face! And they’ll love looking at you and them together, remembering a time that has passed.

I truly believe that you owe it yourself and your child to document these important family years in beautiful photographs.

Mum and baby photoshoots available all year round

I first launched these Mummy and Me sessions in 2017 and they have been really popular ever since.

It’s been a real pleasure to photograph so many lovely mummies with their sons and daughters, in ages ranging from month-old babies through to teenagers.

Mummy and child photoshoot by Sandra Cullen Photography

Before I sat down to write this, I actually looked back over the pictures I have taken for my Mummy and Me clients over the past two years. It was so nice revisiting the mummy and baby and mummy and child portraits I’ve taken!

The kind words my clients have shared about their experience of their Mummy and Me photoshoots also reminded me of how special it is for the families to have these portraits.

Mummy and Me photoshoot experience

Having professional quality photographs that capture the important connection between mum and child really is so wonderful, as my clients have said themselves:

Emma Jane gave me a 5-star review:

“Sandra is welcoming and friendly and instantly put my children and myself at ease. We took up the offer of a mini, mummy and me photo shoot and we love the pictures. Sandra really captured our relaxed natures and love for each other. I would highly recommend Sandra and would not hesitate to use her services again.

Corinne also gave me a 5-star review and said,

We are delighted with our photos. My extremely wriggly 3-year-old was only half cooperating, but Sandra was calm and patient and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend her.”

A recent Mummy and Me Session

My most recent Mummy and Me session was with the lovely Amy who had been treated to the session by her husband for her birthday. She came along to my photography studio earlier this month for some mum and baby portraits.

Here are just some of the almost-thirty pictures that I took for Amy with her adorable daughter Aurora. Gorgeous, aren’t they?

And I was delighted that Amy gushed about the session and the photos afterwards! Here’s what she said on her Instagram account @raising_aurora:

We absolutely loved it. I may not have lost my baby (or Christmas) weight, or had my hair and makeup perfectly done but none of this mattered when I was with my baby 😍. Sandra had a lovely little studio and had planned put all the best poses so we could get lots of shots quickly before Aurora got tired. She made us feel very comfortable offering lots of breaks for feeds and a little rest too!”

Why wait to book your Mummy and Me session?

I hope that these pictures and testimonials make you realise that a mum and daughter or mother and son photoshoot is an investment well worth making?

They are available all year round. Perhaps you could ask your partner or family to treat you – why not add it to your birthday wish list? Or treat yourself! You deserve it! Even when there is no occasion!

The session costs just £79, which includes a 2-hour photoshoot at my south-east London photography studio. They’ll be plenty of time for outfit changes and for trying out lots of different poses. Photo packages are available from £249 which includes a minimum of 20 images.

By opting for the full experience, you’ll enjoy a relaxed session and receive a lovely variety of images to choose from and to print, frame or mount onto your walls or place in a keepsake album.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Or, another option, with Mother’s Day coming up, is to take advantage of a very special offer that’s currently up for grabs.

You can book one of my limited-availability mini sessions (20 minutes) on Saturday 216th March 2019.

On this one day only, I am offering Mummy and Me for the incredible-value price of just £99 which includes five digital images, and the option to upgrade to purchase prints and wall art for your home.

A professional photoshoot is an ideal Mother’s Day gift after all!

A moment with mum photoshoot

Take a moment with mum

Whether you opt for the full photoshoot or the mini session, whether you have one child or several, babies or teens, I’ll record your special moments of mother and daughter/son time. And I guarantee you that the whole thing will be a relaxed and fun experience for you all.

I have lots of mum and baby photo ideas and I’ll take several photographs of you and your baby or child together.

If you have more than one child, I’ll photograph you with each child individually as well as in a group. Plus, I’ll also take a photo of just you – you’ve probably not got a professional photo of yourself after all!

Mum and daughter photoshoot with Sandra Cullen Photography

As Cecilia discovered, after her mummy and baby photo session last year, I’m very patient and can get wonderful pictures, even if your little one may not feel like having their photo taken!

I don’t know how Sandra did it?? My little one really give her a hard time – he was simply not in the mood for photos – but the result was great and I was so thankful for her patience.”

The whole point is that you get to enjoy quality time together – just you and your child (or children) – and come away with beautiful, relaxed family portraits that you’ll treasure for years to come.

A Mum and baby photoshoot is a great gift idea

We all deserve something special from time to time, so why not treat yourself to a ‘Moment with Mum’ session? Or buy one for someone else?

I have gift vouchers available if you’d like to buy a session or contribute to the cost of a session for a friend or family member.

Anne-Marie recently said of her session:

“I loved our Mummy and Me session with Sandra. Sandra worked smoothly and with warmth and fun. I felt really special and so did my daughter. I would highly recommend it!”

Baby sitter session

Is it almost time to book a baby sitter session?

If you have a young baby, you’ll know that sitting up independently is a HUGE milestone for your little one. In such a small amount of time they have achieved so much, bless them!

The sitting up stage – which usually happens when a baby is around 7-8 months old – is such a fun and exciting time. How clever they are at this age! Which makes this a brilliant occasion to have professional baby portraits taken.

If you’ve a little one approaching this landmark achievement, have you considered booking, what I call, a baby ‘sitter session’?

baby sitter session

The signs that your baby is almost ready for a sitting up photoshoot

If you’re considering having some updated professional portraits taken of your baby, but aren’t sure whether they’re ready, ask yourself these questions:

  • Have they mastered rolling and crawling?
  • Do they love jumping, bouncing and kicking their legs? (That Jumperoo is a godsend, isn’t it?!)
  • Are they rocking, swaying and shuffling forward?

Well, if so, these are all clues that they are on the verge of becoming a super-skilled sitter!

Perhaps they’re even mastered sitting up independently already. They may not stay up for long, but at least they’re trying!  In which case, it’s the right time to get yourself booked in!

What is a baby ‘sitter session’?

A baby sitter session is perfect for little ones who have mastered sitting up independently. It’s designed with babies of this age in mind and is done to capture all your baby’s clever new moves and gorgeous smiley expressions.

These sessions are an ideal follow-on from a newborn photoshoot or as a precursor to a first birthday photoshoot or cake smash.

Why book a sitting up photo session?

My sitter session clients are mummies and daddies who realise that this adorable stage is short-lived and know that they want to capture these precious moments in photographs.

They also know that at this sitting-up stage, their baby is almost unrecognisable compared with how they were as a newborn – which is perhaps the last time they had them professionally photographed.

No longer snoozing peacefully for most of the day and feeding every other hour, they’re active for much more of the day and are interested in EVERYTHING!

They’ve become an adorable little person who spends much of the day smiling, gurgling and exploring. Innocent and playful, chubby and wide-eyed, babies of this age are becoming more aware and are interested in their surroundings.

Yes, that means they love to try and grasp everything within their reach (and usually put everything in their mouths too!).

The significance of your baby sitting up for the first time

Sitting up independently will be a game changer for your little one. And once they’ve mastered it, it won’t be too long before the next stage – you guessed it, walking! (Eek!)

So, by booking a sitter session, you’re momentarily freezing time.

The photographs will allow you to remember this important stage in years to come, and you’ll love looking back at them in the future as they continue through their pre-school years and beyond.

What happens during a baby sitter session at Sandra Cullen Photography?

As a specialist baby photographer, based here in south-east London, I am fortunate enough to get to photograph so many gorgeous babies each and every year. I LOVE my job and getting the chance to work with clever, growing babies is an absolute pleasure.

In my photography studio in Woolwich, I have everything I need to create a variety of cute baby portraits for you to choose from, and which will make great family heirlooms, artwork for your walls as well as gifts for your close family and friends.

Baby sitter session with Sandra Cullen Photography London

My baby sitter sessions last approximately 30-45 minutes and the fee of £79 includes:

  • a pre-session consultation (I can put your mind at rest about what you need to bring on the day, and you can tell me of any preferences you have for the colours and styling for the photos),
  • your own fully-bespoke studio session
  • the time, talent and support of your photographer (me!)
  • and, the production of a minimum of 20 digital images which are lovingly edited images to review and order.

Digital images and photo products are available to view and buy (no images are included in the session fee) at your ordering appointment, typically between 10-14 days after your photo session.

Creating photographs that I know will be treasured forever by the baby’s family is an absolute joy. I love seeing my client’s faces, during the ordering appointment, when they view the portraits I’ve taken for them, the very first time. Happy faces all round! 😊

Why not also consider upgrading to a Baby Plan?

You also have the option to combine a baby sitter session with two other photo sessions over the course of twelve months. By doing so, you’ll benefit from huge discounts on session fees and digital images. Find out more about My Baby Plan here.

Capturing your baby’s first year in photos

Having a baby is nothing short of life-changing. As a parent, your baby’s first year is undoubtedly the most exciting and precious time in your life.

And in that short time, you’ll see them transform from teeny-tiny baby to walking and talking toddler. SO many changes take place in a baby’s first year. It’s just incredible!

Which is why the majority of the families who come to me to have their baby photographed as a newborn also choose to invest in my Baby Plan package.

What is the ‘Baby Plan’?

‘Precieux Moments’ is my Baby Plan package which has been created for parents like you, who value professional photography and who are keen to document how your baby changes as they develop and grow.

It’s an incredible value discounted package which includes three ‘milestone’ portrait sessions, held at stages throughout your baby’s first year.

Why ‘Precieux Moments’?

Well, I’m French and that is the French term for, you’ve guessed it, ‘Precious Moments’.

And indeed, how precious those memories are!

Why invest in the Baby Plan?

There are many reasons to choose the Baby Plan.

  1. You’ll have a professional-quality photographic record of your baby’s first year, so you’ll be able to remember how they were at different stages in that first twelve months – priceless!
  2. You have the flexibility to choose when you want your baby to be photographed. There are two options available (read on to find out more)
  3. By booking the Baby Plan, you’ll not need to worry about having to remember to book in for future photo sessions. We will pencil in a date in your diary for all three sessions at the time of booking, so you’ll have the peace of mind that the session is secured in my schedule.
  4. And, last but not least, you’ll save more than £500 on the photo sessions, images and photo products (see below) by opting for the Baby Plan, rather than booking individual sessions throughout the year!

The Baby Plan is a great value way of capturing your baby’s first year

With my Baby Plan, you benefit from:

Discounted session fees

You’ll pay just £95 (the cake for the cake smash is not included in the session fee) which covers all three photo sessions.

If each session was booked separately the cost would normally be £79 each, so this is a total saving of at least £115 on session fees.

Discounted digital images

For each of the three sessions within the Baby Plan, you’ll pay £400 to receive all the images I capture on the day (a minimum of 20 images). All images will be provided to you as digital downloads after each session, ready for printing and sharing with your family and friends. Then, all images from the three sessions are also provided on a USB at the end of the plan.

If you opted to purchase all the digital images outside of the Baby Plan package, the cost each time would be £449, so this is a total saving of £147 on images across the year.

A complimentary photo product of your choice worth £399

With the Baby Plan package, also included is a fantastic quality ‘end of year’ photo product, worth £399.

This can be either:

  • A beautiful nine-aperture frame which has room for you to display three of your favourite images from each of your Baby Plan sessions, suitable for hanging anywhere in your home.

  • Or, a bespoke print and USB box which can be customised to your preferences and can also be personalised with your child’s name. The soft-touch box is a great way to store your beautiful prints from the three photo sessions.

  • Or, a luxury, 40-page keepsake album with matching USB box which is a simply stunning way to display your favourite images.

Key milestones in your baby’s first year

The Baby Plan includes three ‘milestone’ portrait sessions, which you can take at any time. However, I recommend that you return to have your baby photographed when they have achieved a significant developmental milestone.

Option 1:

I could photograph your baby when they are aged 4 months, 7-8 months and one year:

  • At four months old, babies are typically starting to show an interest in ‘tummy time’. Or, if they aren’t fans of that, I can photograph them lying on their backs looking up at the camera, which is really cute!
  • At 7-8 months old, they have learnt to crawl and are now sitting independently
  • Then, by their first birthday, they’re starting to talk and, perhaps, even walk unaided. Aren’t they clever?!

Sandra Cullen Photography Baby Plan portraits

Option 2:

A second option is that I photograph your baby slightly later in their development. That way, the third and final session ties in with them reaching 18-24 months old:

  • The first photoshoot would be a ‘sitter’ session with your baby aged approximately 8-9 months
  • Next, I would photograph their first birthday with my ever-popular cake smash and bath splash celebrations –these are such fun!
  • Finally, in the third session, I can photograph your baby at aged 18-24 months along with other members of the family, for a lovely family portrait. Even the dog can be included if you wish!

Precious moments you won’t want to miss

My goal is to capture these not-to-be-missed moments in stunning professional portraits while documenting your baby’s growth.

The pictures I create at each session become lasting memories of this incredibly special time.

An investment you won’t regret!

So, while choosing to invest in newborn photography is undoubtedly a great decision if you want lasting memories of your child’s first few weeks of life. There are so many reasons to also invest in professional photography throughout your baby’s first year too!

To recap, my Baby Plan is a very competitively priced package which offers you three private portraits sessions for your little prince or princess, as well as significantly discounted studio time, photos and photo products.

Each session takes place here in my photography studio in Greenwich and lasts up to one hour.

Capturing your baby's first year

I’d love to help you capture your baby’s first year in photos

You’ll only get one chance to capture photographs like these while your child is small. My Baby Plan is a great way to get portraits of your child at a quality, unlike anything that you can create yourself at home.

The images are high-quality artworks in their own right – perfect for hanging on the walls at home and will give you years of pleasure (unlike the snapshots you might take on your smartphone and never print or look again!)

Yes, professional portrait photography is a great investment if you value being able to record and remember all those ‘Precieux Moments’.

While a newborn photography session is a great way to start a photographic record of your baby’s development, my Baby Plan captures all those adorable, not-to-be-missed moments in your baby’s first year.

Photos you should take of your children include baby, toddler and preschool portraits

Thirty photos you should take of your children

As both a baby photographer and a mum, you won’t be surprised to hear that I’m passionate about recording family moments in photographs.

And this is true to the extent that I literally don’t go anywhere without my camera or my phone and am always taking snaps of my two boys.

Whether it’s them playing in the garden, at their much-loved jujitsu class or when they are just goofing around after school, I believe it’s so important to capture everyday moments in photos.

Photographing family moments

You, like me, probably have thousands of snapshots of your children, yes?

After all, it’s so easy to grab our camera phones. So, we certainly have no shortage of photos of our kids.

Smiling toddler by Sandra Cullen Photography

But, in addition to those important everyday moments, there are many key milestones that I think are absolutely essential to record in photos during your baby’s first few years of life.

There are just so many photos you should take of your children.

Free checklist

Which is why I have created a downloadable checklist which is available to you for free if you join my mailing list.

My checklist includes no less than 30 photos that I would encourage you to take throughout your child’s early years.

It covers off all the key developmental stages from newborn through to that first day at school, listing my recommendations of what to photograph at each stage.

Photos you should take of your children

The idea is that you download and print off the checklist, pin it to your noticeboard or fridge and tick them off the photos as you go. Plus, there’s space to add your own ideas too.

Subscribe to my newsletter to claim your free checklist

The free checklist will be yours as a thank you for signing up for my newsletter.

As a subscriber, you’ll receive occasional news and updates about my products and services, plus useful photography tips to help you capture great photos at home.

Sign up here and I’ll then send you your copy straight away.

Once you’ve downloaded the checklist, I hope you’ll agree that it serves as a handy reference of what moments to capture and as a reminder to ensure that you don’t miss any of those key milestones in your baby’s early years.

Whether you opt to take these pictures yourself or choose to hire a professional baby photographer like me, it will certainly be time well spent.

Fleeting childhood memories

As we all know, time just flies, and children grow up so fast.

You’ll be taking sleeping pics of your curled up newborn bundle one minute and then before you know it, you’ll be chasing after your carefree toddler.

The pre-school years go so quickly! Which is why I created the checklist.

A first birthday celebration is one of the photos you should take of your children

I’m often asked what occasions are important for parents to photograph, and the checklist answers that very question by listing all the photos you should take of your children.

Of course, I encourage you to take photos of your kids EVERY SINGLE DAY, but I’d recommend that you’re especially careful to photograph the 30 photos listed on the checklist.

Photos you’ll just love to look back on

Based on my experience as both a mum and a professional baby photographer, these are the important moments that you’ll love to look back on in years to come and you won’t want to miss.

Photos you should take of your children include baby, toddler and preschool portraits

If you don’t take these photos of your children, your memories will be all you have left. And as we all know, photographs last far longer than memories, which can fade over time.

So, don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter in order to get your free copy of the checklist ’30 must-have pictures of your children’.
