Your baby will soon be turning one!
So it’s been nearly a year since the most amazing little human landed in your life.
It both flew by but feels like they’ve always been part of your life, am I right?
Naturally, you want to celebrate, and with the popularity of first birthday cake smashes rising all the time, what better way to do so?
Baby, cake smashing fun, and mess – perfect! Beautiful photographs to look back on? Even better!
But what does a first birthday cake smash with me entail? Let me walk you through!
First things first!
Once you’re booked in, we will have a chat about the colour scheme for the decorations, outfit and cake – we want everything to be just right! These are YOUR images, so your input is vital.
You’ll be sent a preparation guide with all the information you need for your session, including some hints and tips to help it run smoothly. For example, I suggest you let your baby loose with some cupcakes a few times beforehand and encourage them to smash them – so they don’t freeze when they are faced with a cake to smash up for real!
On the day, I will decorate the studio in the colours you decided, and build the balloon arch (these take forever but are so worth it!)
Cup of tea and a chat
On arrival at the studio, we will have a cuppa and a chat about the outfit for the session – this gives your baby the chance to feel comfortable with me and their new surroundings. We don’t want to launch them straight into the spotlight and risk them being camera shy!
Strike a pose!
I like to start with a portrait on my little chair, it’s super cute and a good lead into the rest of the session, then follow this with a family picture. You may not be on board with this – but I promise you, you’ll LOVE having a picture of you all to look back on in years to come and I know lots of clever angles, posing and editing tricks to help you look your best!
Smash time!
The session is led by your little one, meaning I take everything at their pace – you will get them into their cake smash outfit while I set up the cake and decorations, then we let them loose to do their stuff!
Hopefully they will demolish the cake with gusto, but sometimes they will need a helping hand and encouragement from you. This is the part when some babies have ended up face planting the cake , thanks to an over enthusiastic Dad!
Splash time!
Your baby should now be lovely and messy, with sticky hands and face – so it’s time for a splash in the tub. Babies LOVE this and it cleans them up too.
With baby dried off and content, we can have a short chat about the products I offer, and arrange a date for you to return to the studio to view your edited images, at a stress free ordering appointment.
