Why family photography is so important.

During the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, which, at the time of writing, has been in place in the UK for 5 weeks now, we have all had a lot of time to think.  To think about life, the universe, and everything in between.  We have time to think about our own lives.  What’s important to us.  What our priorities are.  Are the things we thought important, really such a high priority right now, or any more?  Are the things we’ve been neglecting, actually far more important than we gave them credit for?  Were our lives full of busy-ness, unnecessarily?  What really matters to us?

What is more important than family?  How often do we see our extended family?  Our cousins, our aunts and uncles, our grandparents, our nieces and nephews?  Sometimes we may take our family for granted.  Maybe we assume that they’ll always be there.  For a very long time they will be.  But then one day they won’t. And in the case of a global pandemic, they are so close but yet so far.

If you’re like me, you may have realised how little you see your family.  My family is in another country, and I get to see them for a couple of weeks, once a year.  You miss a lot of things.  You miss seeing your nephews and nieces growing up.  Your family, and extended family members miss seeing your children grow up.  Your elderly relatives miss you, and their grandchildren very much.  Being in isolation is not easy.  Imagine how it is for your elderly parents or grandparents, most of the time.  Think of how much they would appreciate being with you, and your children, the happiness you could all share, once this period of lockdown and enforced isolation is over.

So when you do get the opportunity, consider getting together for a family photo session.  I love capturing the whole family’s joy in each other’s company.  Outdoors.  In the woods.  In a park.  As a family photographer in South East London, I am here to capture those special moments that matter so much, especially if you don’t see your family often enough.  My beautiful family photography will capture the love you share, and with the wonderful wall art options I offer, you can get something permanent to keep, to help you remember your precious extended family, if or when, like me, you may be far away from them for a long time, or because with the lockdown, you realised that you miss them so much and need to have a nice picture with them all.

I love working with extended families. I especially love seeing the relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren. It can be quite wonderful to see the love and admiration in each other’s eyes.  It’s easy to be an extended family photographer in South East London when you work with people who love each other and enjoy each other’s company.  Especially in beautiful environments like Greenwich Park, or on Blackheath.

Have a look at my Family portraits gallery here and don’t hesitate to contact me if you want more information. I, for one, cannot wait until the lockdown is over and to be able to get back to doing what I love most, and that is capturing the love that families have for each other, in my spacious studio or on location, outdoors in one of Greenwich South East London’s parks, woods, or heaths.

Summer is coming and I can’t wait to meet you and your extended family soon!
