Indoors Valentine’s Day Ideas

Valentines Vibes and Lockdown love – how you can still celebrate!

With Valentines day fast approaching, those of you who like to mark the occasion may be feeling a bit deflated.

No romantic, candlelit meal out in your favourite restaurant, or cosy cinema trip for two – but look on the bright side!  That also means no over inflated Valentines day prices, and not having to venture out in the Winter chill of February!

And for those of you with a new baby, you probably wouldn’t have left your baby with a sitter yet anyway!  We look at ways you can still celebrate, from the comfort of your own home.

ROMANTIC MEAL AT CHEZ HOME!

There is nothing stopping you from bringing the romance home, whether you go all out with candles, flowers, and a beautifully set table, or opt for a takeaway in front of the TV.  It’s about doing something nice TOGETHER, a break from ‘the norm’.

If you don’t fancy cooking, lots of local restaurants are offering fancy Valentines deliveries, or you may prefer just your favourite pizza, Indian or tapas – whatever floats your boat.

Some places are even doing Valentines boxes, where they provide everything you need, plus step by step instructions, to cook your own posh meal – personally that’s not for me, I prefer to be cooked for, but it could be fun preparing your meal together.

You could even attempt making cocktails together,  Yumbles has a fab pornstar martini set on offer currently, or alternatively have fun concocting your own – don’t blame us for the headaches though.

MOVIE NIGHT!

There is something pretty romantic about curling up together to watch a film,  kids settled in bed and it’s YOU time.  Why not make it even more special for Valentines night?

How about making popcorn together? We love this easy to follow popcorn recipe.

Get your favourite snacks in, cosied up together on the sofa, sharing a blanket, decent bottle of wine and pop on one of these loved-up films we’ve found for you:

1. 50 First Dates – Classic Adam Sandler, this film will have you giggling into your blanket together.  Drew Barrymore plays the woman of his dreams, who just happens to forget who he is every morning that she wakes up.

2.Lovebirds – Perfect for those of you who aren’t into anything too slushy and mushy, this accidental crime movie has the lovebirds of the title working together to not only stay alive but to clear their names for a murder they didnt commit!

3. Love, Guaranteed  – A Netflix original about a guy falling for his lawyer, when she represents him to sue an online dating company.

1. His Girl Friday – We’re going old school now, this gorgeous, screwball romantic comedy has Cary Grant as the lead, a reporter intent on winning back his ex wife.  Surely Valentine’s day is the perfect time for a classic black and white romance caper.

2. What If? – An easy going, feel good love story with a grown up Harry Potter, no magic: just sparks of attraction, and explorations of love.

3. Brittany runs a Marathon – Cited as one of the best comedies of the year in 2019, this sweet film with dashes of romance and comedy is a must see!

4. A Simple Favour –  OK this is more of a thriller than a romance, but not everyone wants sickly sweet romance movies, even on Valentines day!  This is a crazy ride from start to finish, great fun with just a hint of romance throughout.

5. To Catch A Thief – This Hitchcock caper is perfect for those who love a bit of old school romance, with dashing leads, full of charm.

MAKE A ROMANTIC BLANKET DEN/FORT

OK this one is for those who are still big kids at heart.

Here is your checklist:

  • Make a den or fort from blankets, ideally near a window so you can do some stargazing!
  • Make it super comfy with pillows and cushions and fleecy throws.
  • Grab your favourite bottle of booze, glasses and snacks
  • .Make it a NO PHONE area.
  • Have your favourite romantic playlist on.

Whatever you decide to do, remember, the main thing is about being together. Take a step back from lockdown, real life and all the stress, and just enjoy each other’s company – who knows,  if enough romance is injected maybe we will be seeing you in the studio next year for a maternity or newborn  session!
